Richmond based artist, Kate Feddersen, works in glass and ceramic craft practices. Currently a senior attending Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts, she is a double major in Craft/Material Studies and Art Education, with a minor in Art History with focus in Feminist Art History. As an intern at a local nonprofit print shop, Studio Two-Three, for over two years, Kate has worked alongside many brilliant artists and has learned many skills in marketing, printmaking, studio upkeep, hosting events and art auctions, gallery processes, and more. While studying abroad in Florence, Italy, Kate exhibited multiple pieces in two shows in 2023 at San Gallo Campus including paintings, a stop motion short film, and a sculpture. More recently her four-foot, handbuilt and cold surfaced stoneware ceramic MilkJug was exhibited in a group show titled in It’s a Big Deal.  in the  Murry N. DePillars Building lobby in Richmond, Virginia. Kate exhibited in We are not Servants of Time, but the Masters of it in 2023 at Murry N. DePillars in Richmond, VA . Seeking to celebrate the spontaneity and liberation of play both inside and outside of Craft, Kate is inspired by herself as a child, and the children she educates. Constantly in admiration of the freedom of creative expression in youth, she has formed her practices and pedagogy with the basis of accepting failure as an opportunity.
